This course is to meet the requirements of BS7671:2008 known as the 17th Edition wiring regulations.

This course is run at our partner centre in Boton, Lancashire for courses in York please see the City & Guilds 17th Edition, York page.

BS7671:2008 comes into effect from 1st July 2008. This electrical training course is for qualified electricians to gain their 17th edition wiring regulations certificate. The City & Guilds 2382 can be taken as a 1 day upgrade for holders of the City & Guilds 2381 16th Edition Wiring Regulations 2001 (or equivalent) or our 3 day City & Guilds 2382 17th Edition Wiring Regulations for new entrants.

To be accepted on this City & Guilds 2382 upgrade course you MUST hold the following certificates or a nationally recognised equivalent:

  • City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671: June 2001) (2381)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Installation (Building and Structures) (2330-07)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Electrical Maintenance (2330-08)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrical Installations Part Two (2360) (from 1 January 2004 onwards only)

Originals of the above certificates or their equivalent MUST be produced on course start date or sent before to us. We cannot allow students without them to continue the course and you will loose your course fees.

If you cannot find the original certificate please call us and we can use our approved centre access to City & Guilds to confirm them.

If you hold a BS 7671 16th Edition certificate pre 2001, you will have to take the full 3 day City & Guilds 2382 17th Edition wiring regulations course. This is because the last update to the 16th Edition was in 2001 and only holders of a current 16th Edition certifcate can attend the 1 day update course.

This 1 day course is classroom based and consists of a two lecture sessions and an online City & Guilds GOLA examination for the 2382. There are no practical elements for this course.

Q - What do I need to bring with me for the upgrade course?

A - We need the following; your original 16th Edition 2001 onwards certificate or equivalent, photographic ID (passport, photo driving licence, national ID card), National Insurance number, your date of birth.

Q - What books do I need to bring for the course?

A - We provide you with a copy of the BSI 17th Edition Wiring Regulations to use on the course, although we strongly recommend you purchase your own copy and the NIC 17th Edition training manual. Both can be found in online electrical book shop.

Q - What are you course times?

A - Saturday (9am to about 4.30pm) with an hour for lunch

Q - How much deposit is required?

A - Full course balance is payable on booking.

Q - Can I take this course on a Saturday?
