Purpose of the Non Domestic Energy Assessor Training Course

To give delegates the required knowledge to qualify and register as a Non Domestic Energy Assessor (NDEA)
Non Domestic Energy Assessors (NDEA's) collect data on the dimensions; construction, heating and hot water provision of the property, and enter the information into an approved software programme.  This, in turn, will produce the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)

The first part of the City & Guilds Non Domestic Energy Assessor (NDEA) training course certificate is a benchmarked measure of the property's energy performance on a scale A to G.

The second part of the EPC is cost effective recommendations for improving the energy performance of the property, information on renewable energy and recommendations on energy efficient behaviour.

Non Domestic Energy Assessors are needed to provide Commercial EPC's

Commercial Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) are needed by customers when sellingrenting or building a commercial property. If a building is split into parts to be used as separate accommodation; the parts may each require their own Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). The sale and let of commercial buildings can be complex with multiple tenancies and uses. The need for a single or multiple Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) may depend on the heating systems and future plans for the building.

When is an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) required?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) should be provided to a prospective buyer or tenant at the earliest opportunity and no later than when a viewing is conducted or when written information is provided about the building. Even if no marketing takes place it must be provided before entering into a contract to sell or let.

How long is an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) valid for?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is valid for up to 10 years, unless a newer Energy Performance Certificate is produced for the property, in which case only the latter is valid.

What happens if I do not have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)?

The penalty for failing to make an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) available to any prospective buyer or tenant when selling or letting non-dwellings is fixed, in most cases, at 12.5% of the rateable value of the building, subject to a minimum penalty of £500 and a maximum of £5,000. There is a default penalty of £750 where the formula cannot be applied. The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) will still be required.
