City & Guilds Accredited Legionellosis - Legionella Control within Hot and Cold Water Systems (York)

This Legionellosis course is designed for managers, supervisors or engineers who need an understanding of how legionella bacteria may proliferate within their hot and cold water system and how to prevent or control the bacteria.

Purpose

The course is designed to give those who attend an overview and understanding of how to control the risk from legionella bacteria within hot and cold water systems. It will enable effective management of the hot and cold water system in accordance to Approved Code of Practice L8.

What will be covered:

• Medical aspects of legionnaires disease, including how the bacteria proliferates and who are the susceptible people to the illness
• Background into other potential common mechanical and bacterial hazards from a hot and cold water system including hygiene consideration
• Relevant statutory documents and highlighting a number of high profile court cases and there outcome
• The requirements of Approved Code of Practice L8 to ensure compliance
• Hot and cold water system design and remedial actions to minimise the risk of the bacteria proliferating and ensuring compliance to Water Regulations
• Monitoring requirements including temperature checking, tank inspections legionella water sampling and actions in the event of positive count
• Requirements of compiling and maintaining the water management log book.

Duration and Assessment

A three day course, beginning at 09.00 a.m. and finishing at 16.00 p.m. each day.

This course ends with PPL Training written and practical assessments.

Each delegate will be issued with an attendance certificate at the end of the course and a City & Guilds / PPL Training certificate of achievement once they successfully complete the written assessment.

The practical consists of a demonstration of flushing and temperature checking outlets.
