Who will benefit

A course designed for Legionella risk assessors who need the understanding of how to carry out a risk assessment on water systems.

Objective and aims of the course

The course is designed to give those who attend the course an overview and understanding of how to assess water systems for the risk of being exposed to legionella bacteria and documenting their findings. Participants will ideally have a prior knowledge of water systems.

What will be covered:

• Legionellosis - review of the background to the disease
• Requirement for risk assessment in the Approved Code of Practice L8 and BS8580
• Identification of susceptible areas within high risk water systems, in particular hot and cold water systems and evaporative cooling towers
• Engineering modification to eliminate / reduce the risk of legionellosis
• Written scheme requirements in accordance with Approved Code of Practice L8 and BS8580
• Water sampling requirements and required actions depending on the count identified
• Risk assessment documentation

Duration and Accreditation

A three day starting at 09.00am on day 1 and finishing at 16.30pm on day three.

This course is accredited by PPL Training and City & Guilds with written assessments.
