Who Is This Course For:
This is aimed at qualified electricians who wish to include the installation of electrical vehicle charging equipment as part of their work. Delegates should have already completed a 17th Edition Course, including amendment 2, and be familiar with the IET Code of Practice. We also strongly recommend having practical experience of inspection and testing prior to attending this course.

Course overview:

Over the 2-day course duration you will cover the following areas:

  • Introduction, BS7671 section 722 and the IET Code of Practice
  • Modes of charging, EVSE, restrictions 
  • Installation practices, risk assessment, earthing, protection, labelling and practical exercises
  • On street, commercial and industrial situations
  • Inspection, testing, fault finding and maintenance
  • Certification and notification to DNO
  • Practical assessment and online exam (C&G 2919)
Course Entry Requirements:

There are no formal prerequisites to this course, however you will should have completed your qualification in 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, if you have not yet completed this more information can be found in our 17th Edition Wiring Regulations Course

You must also be able to carry out an initial verification (inspection & testing) on an electrical installation and complete the necessary paperwork.

Note: These competencies are required for the assessment and are not taught as part of the course.

You will be tasked with understanding and demonstrating your knowledge of installation and commissioning of electric vehicle charging equipment in domestic locations. This will be assessed through both practical and theoretical assessment.
