Background
The Bpec Part L Energy Efficiency training course is approved by the Energy Savings Trust, Gas Safe and the Heating and Hot Water Information Council.

The content and focus of both training and the assessments is appropriate to the requirements of plumbers, gas engineers and renewable energy installers, but also satisfies compliance with Approved Document L1 (Parts A and B) of the Building Regulations.

Who should attend?

This 1 day Part L Energy Efficiency course is recommended for Plumbers, Heating Engineers, Surveyors, Renewable Installers. This Bpec Part L Energy Efficiency training course will enable you to advise customers on the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations.

Purpose of this course?

The aim of this Bpec Part L Energy Efficiency course is to provide knowledge of energy efficiency in the home and largely concentrates on Energy Efficiency in the context of heating and hot water controls, insulation and domestic energy saving measures. After attending this Bpec Part L Energy Efficiency training course, delegates will be able to advise customers on the efficiency of their controls, to confirm whether or not their controls meet current standards; and advise them on any upgrades needed. Learners will also be taught to correctly size boilers and give advice to customers on the best ways to conserve household energy.

BPEC Part L Energy Efficiency Training Course Theory Overview

The Bpec Part L Energy Efficiency course covers the following key criteria and by the end of the course delegates should be able to:

  • Understand the regulatory requirements and sources of guidance for energy efficiency standards for gas-fired and oil-fired heating appliances connected to ‘wet’ heating circuits
  • Be able to determine if a non-condensing boiler installation would be acceptable
  • Recognise the requirement relating to space heating primary circuits type and design for gas-fired and oil-fired ‘wet’ heating systems
  • Appreciate the compliance standards requirement for hot water storage vessels
  • Understand the requirements relating to the preparation and water treatment of hot water systems and wet central heating systems
  • Understand the requirements relating to the commissioning of hot water systems and wet central heating systems
  • Know the requirements of the minimum standards for the control of gas-fired and oil-fired wet central heating systems
  • Know the requirements of the minimum standards for the control of insulation of pipework for gas-fired and oil-fired wet central heating and hot water storage systems
  • Know the requirements relating to standalone, glandless heating system circulators.
There is no practical elements to this Bpec Part L Energy Efficiency training course.
