City & Guilds 6068 Understanding Sustainable Energy Efficiency course (for Green Deal Installers) Course Overview:

This is the new City & Guilds Green Deal qualification for Installers, Understanding Sustainable Energy Efficiency. It is likely to require by all installers wishing to prove their understanding of the Green Deal process and work for a Green Deal Provider.

The course is aimed at a wide range of installers, from insulation to microgeneration, to boilers and double glazing fitters. Those who wish to become a registered Green Deal installer should attend as well in addition to holding any installer qualifications required.

The Green Deal allows householders, business and other organisations to make energy efficiency improvements to their properties at no upfront cost. Expected to be launched by Government in autumn of this year, the Green Deal will revolutionise the energy efficiency of the UK’s existing buildings. There are no upfront costs to the consumer as the energy efficiency improvement cost is divided into a loan repayment and collected over a period of up to 25 years as a charge on their electricity bill. The Green Deals ‘Golden Rule’ is that the annual loan repayment must be less that the annual energy savings from the installation of the energy efficiency measure such as insulation, energy efficiency boilers, renewables, double glazing, etc.

Green Deal Installers must prove that they understand the workings of the Green Deal and understand sustainable energy efficiency.
