Energy Performance Certificates now required for PV Installations

Today the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) have announced that properties installing solar panels after 1st April this year, will be required to produce an EPC.

In addition to this, DECC have also reduced the minimum energy performance a property must achieve from a C rating to a D rating, in order to continue receiving the higher tariff of 21p/Kw. This is excellent news to the UK consumer and now means 50% of UK households will now be eligible for the higher tariff rate.

As part of today's news regarding mandatory EPCs,  Solar PV installers will have to sub-contract this energy assessment to qualified and registered assessors unless they are qualified and registered themselves.

Further information can be found on the DECC website or the DEA information page.
