The City & Guilds Plumbing Course with LOGIC is a 4 week course. This can be take in one go, or split into weekly blocks taken over a period of time. It is aimed at people who are unable to complete the full 8 week City & Guilds 6129 with LOGIC course but want to gain formal qualifications in plumbing. After completing the course plumbing students have the opportunity to return to PPL for four 1 week blocks to complete the City & Guilds 6129 level 2 and move onto the 6089 NVQ in plumbing.
After completing the 4 week course students gain two formal plumbing qualifications from City & Guilds (6022 Domestic Copper Installer and 6032 Sanitary Accommodation) along with 4 LOGIC certificates. The 6022 and 6032 are stand alone certificates and do not form part of the NVQ in plumbing. However all students on this plumbing course are registered for the 6129 and complete all the plumbing assessments. They can return to complete the lead work, low carbon steel pipework and GOLA online examination, if they wish to gain the full 6129.
People with limited practical trade experience may gain from taking the Weekend Introduction plumbing course first, although no prior qualifications or experience in plumbing are necessary. If you are considering becoming a plumber then you may wish to see our train to be a plumber page before reviewing this course.
The course is full time (Monday to Friday) for 4 weeks - although it may be taken in weekly blocks if this is more convenient for no extra charge. In order to complete the full City & Guilds 6129 Level 2, students will be required to return for four 1 week blocks to complete lead work, low carbon steel pipework and final assessments. These weeks are charged at £750 plus VAT per week. They can be arranged at a time to suit the student. If it takes longer than 4 weeks to complete the award, we do not charge for the extra weeks. Some students prefer to take our 8 week City & Guilds 6129 with LOGIC plumbing course instead.
The course starts with basic pipe work skills and moves onto more complex plumbing tasks including airing cupboards, bathroom suites, above ground drainage, central heating installation (no gas/oil), lead work and low carbon steel pipework. It also includes 4 extra qualifications, LOGIC Water Regulations, LOGIC Unvented Hot Water, LOGIC Building Regulations and LOGIC Legionella Prevention certificates, together with business lectures, a foundation electrical course, tiling and plastering courses.

Theory and practical sessions are mixed on a daily basis with around 3.5 days per week in the practical workshop and the remainder in the classroom. Students are divided into small tutor groups of 6 people led by an experienced plumbing tutor.
The course also contains regular demonstrations, topics include; power flushing, pipe freezing, floorboard lifting, tap maintenance and many more relevant skills. Students also receive a free tool kit and safety equipment pack. This contains all the tools and safety equipment they will need on the course. It is yours to take away at the end of the course.
On successful completion of the course there is the opportunity of a one week placement with the plumbing company On Tap UK Ltd or a local plumbing company in your area. On Tap UK Ltd may offer you permanent employment based on your performance on the placement. This part of the course is optional and subject to availability*
A deposit of £350 is required to reserve a place on this plumbing course with the remaining fees paid in equal instalments in week 1 and week 5 of the course.
After successful completion of the 6129 (extra 4 weeks) the student will complete the City & Guilds 6089 NVQ level 2 while working as a self-employed plumber or for a plumbing company.

After qualifying with PPL you will be able to join Concept's network of sub-contracting insurance claims repair specialists. This work is "recession proof" in dealing with insurance repair work such as flood damage, fire damage, burst pipes, etc. Concept has 138 offices throughout the UK and as a PPL trained plumber you will join a long established sub-contracting network while enjoying top rates of pay for small and large insurance jobs.
Please take a look at the theory overview tab.
*The optional work placement cannot be guaranteed for students taking our Buy Now Pay later payment plan. Please see our terms and conditions for more details.

City & Guilds Plumbing course with LOGIC practical overview:
6022/6032/6129 Practical sessions:
The practical sessions take place in our modern 8,500 sq feet training centre. After progressing through basic pipework skills students aim to complete 60 practical assesments in plumbing and 12 multiple choice theory papers during the 8 weeks.
We have a trainer to student ratio of 1:6 in the workshop sessions.
There are NVQ Assessors on hand to mark your work to City & Guilds standards. On the 4 week course you are registered and assessed for the 6129 so you will be asked to prepare a City & Guilds 6129 Level 2 log for each task including, materials list, pipe diagrams and the work you have done. This is then signed off by our NVQ assessors and will count towards your 6129 Level 2. It is also possible to include digital photos within the portfolio which can be shown to future employers or customers. As these are signed by qualified assessors, your future employer or customers can be assured that you have reached the required standard.
