Train to be a Renewable Energy Installer

At PPL we offer a range of Renewable Energy courses from 1 day to 12 weeks in duration, depending on what skills and qualifications you already hold.

For new entrants into the Renewable Energy Industry, we offer the 12 week Renewable Energy Engineer package which starts with the City & Guilds NVQ2 in Plumbing and goes on to cover other renewable energy technologies.  We start with the plumbing qualification as this forms the basis of most renewable energy technologies, and without this, you will not be able to offer a wide range of renewable energy services.  Please click here to view the full course content.

For those who already have the NVQ2 qualification in plumbing, we offer a wide range of stand-alone renewable energy courses including, NICEIC Solar Photovoltaic, Bpec Solar Hot Water, Bpec Underfloor Heating Installer, Bpec Energy Efficiency, Bpec Heat Pumps and many more.  Please click here for further details on the range of renewable energy courses we offer.

We understand that not all students have the opportunity or financial circumstances to support a 12 week renewable energy engineer course in one go.  Therefore we are one of the few training centres in the UK to offer the Renewable Energy Engineer course on a flexible training and payment basis (for no extra fees).

     
 
Some of our Renewable Energy Courses require you to have certain electrical or health & safety qualifications in order to achieve the full installation certificates.  At PPL we offer all the relevant courses that you will need in order for you to achieve your required qualifications, including Bpec Part P Defined/Full Scope courses, City & Guilds 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (full & update courses) and Working at Heights and Manual Handling.  Click here to view our full range of Electrical courses and here to view our range of Health & Safety courses.

Our plumbing training centre is based in York, however, once this is completed, it is possible to complete the remainder of the renewable energy and electrical courses at our other training locations, including Sunderland, Wigan, Bolton and Reading.  Just click on the training location under each course category to view the courses held at each location.

Training to be a renewable energy engineer is only the first step.  After this, comes either self-employment or working for an established renewable energy company.  Many training centres tell potential trainees of vast salaries plumbers can earn. We on the other hand are open and honest.  The majority of our self-employed plumbers earn between £25,000 and £30,000 per year.  It is hard work both physically and mentally, and the hours can be long.  The rewards include being your own boss, running your own business and managing your own working hours. The potential for expanding your business is in your hands.
