About our Plumbing Courses

At PPL we specialise in offering plumbing courses for people wishing to gain further DIY plumbing skills, enter into the plumbing industry and for qualified plumbers to gain further plumbing qualifications. We have trained over 3,000 new and existing plumbers.  After gaining many years of plumbing training experience, we believe we can offer you the best value for money, the best plumbing training and the best after plumbing course support in the UK. In order to be classed as a QUALIFIED plumber to Level 2, you must have achieved a NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing. The NVQ is a combination of two qualifications, the City & Guilds 6129 Technical certificate in Plumbing (done at PPL) and the City & Guilds 6089 Plumbing NVQ (done onsite).

Many plumbing training centres in the UK do not offer the NVQ in plumbing (i.e. NOT offering the City & Guilds 6129 and City & Guilds 6089 or City & Guilds 6189) therefore you will never be classed as a qualified plumber to NVQ level 2 if you train at those centres. You also run the risk of having to repeat the training and assessment at an approved centre should Government regulations change in the future, requiring all plumbers be qualified to NVQ level 2 in plumbing. In fact, in order to work on a building site from 2010, you must have a NVQ in your chosen trade. We also offer a weekly combination of practical and theory training sessions, so you dont spend the first 4 weeks stuck in a classroom - plumbing is a 'hands on' subject.

For mature students over 25 years with 5 or more years plumbing experience, we offer a direct entry City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing. Please see the City & Guilds NVQ 2 Plumbing course (Direct Entry) page.

For existing plumbers and heating engineers:

At our plumbing school, we offer nationally recognised plumbing qualifications and plumbing courses from City & Guilds, Bpec and Logic Certification. These include Bpec Water Regulations, Bpec Unvented Hot Water systems and LOGIC Legionella Prevention Certificate.  Some plumbing training courses can also be run onsite at your companies premises, please see our onsite plumbing courses page.

We also offer electrical training courses specifically for plumbers such as Bpec Part P Defined Scope and Bpec Part P Full Scope, ACS Gas Qualifications, OFTEC Oil assessments together with City & Guilds 2382 17th Edition Wiring Regulations and City & Guilds 2391-10 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations.
