About our Renewable Energy Courses

At PPL, we not only specialise in electrical, oil, gas and plumbing training courses, but also in the latest renewable energy training courses.  As an approved centre with City & Guilds, Bpec Certification, LOGIC Certification and NICEIC Certification, we only offer nationally recognised renewable energy qualifications.  As the qualifications are nationally recognised, the approved installer will be eligible to join the appropriate approved grants scheme such as the Microgeneration Certification Scheme supported by DECC.  Although specific manufacturer courses may be beneficial, they may not entitle the person to join the MCS scheme.  This is because renewable energy manufacturer courses tend to be aimed at a single product and are not generic enough. We have created a network of renewable energy training academies across the UK.

With the Green Deal being launched this Autumn PPL now offer a range of Green Deal courses including City & Guilds 6066 Green Deal Assessor (Domestic), City & Guilds 6066 Green Deal Assessor (Non-Domestic) and City & Guilds 6066 Green Deal Remote Advisor.

We are active and proud members of the Solar Trade Association and Renewable Energy Association.  The demand for your new renewable energy skills is expected be high in the future.  According to UK Government reports, the UK needs 7 million new solar hot water installations by 2020.  There are currently about 120,000 solar hot water installations in the UK at present. The feed in traffis for microgenerated electricity are stimulating demand for renewable energy skills especially Solar PV and Micro Wind.

Our green energy and environmental technologies training facilities have a wide range of purpose built demonstration apparatus.  We currently offer Bpec Solar Hot Water (installer) , Bpec Solar Hot Water (non-installer), Bpec Rainwater Harvesting, Bpec Ground Source Heat Pumps, Bpec Air Source Heat Pumps, Bpec Underfloor heating training, Bpec Renewable Energy Awareness courses and  PPL Domestic loft insulation (installers) course, NICEIC Solar PV, Bpec Woody Biomass with NICIEC Micro Wind coming in 2012.

At PPL we do our very best for you.  We have experienced and relaxed trainers, combined with excellent renewable energy training facilities.  Our unique policy of no additional assessment fees extends to all of our renewable energy courses.  Post-course support is an important consideration in any training, especially new technologies such as green energy.  We have a network of renewable energy contacts throughout the UK who are able to offer guidance, support and even work placements in the renewable energy sector.  As a Bpec and NICEIC renewable training centre, we are not tied to one specific manufacturer or product, therefore we can offer impartial advice on green energy matters including Solar Hot Water, Ground Source Heat Pumps, Air Source Heat Pumps, Biomass, Underfloor heating, Solar PV and many other matters.

We are one of the few centres in the UK to offer the complete package of training for both the new entrants into renewable energy and existing plumbers who wish to extend their plumbing skills.  For new entrants we offer the renewable engineer package.  This combines the City & Guilds NVQ 2 in Plumbing (City & Guilds 6129 and City & Guilds 6089) with Bpec Part P Electrical (Defined Scope), Bpec Solar Hot Water, Bpec Rainwater Harvesting and Bpec Ground Source Heat Pumps, together with LOGIC Water Regulations, LOGIC Unvented Hot Water and LOGIC Building Regulations.  A fundamental and unique part of this renewable training package is a free placement (2 weeks) with a national green energy installer.  This combination of high quality green energy training backed up by professional real world experience is at present unique within the industry.  Potential students for this package should look at our qualified renewable engineer package.
