Course Facilities - Trainers

A PPL we believe in only using the most experienced and best training staff. Our tutors all have a mixture of real world on the tools experienced combined with many years of teaching. We believe we are the only plumbing training centre to offer a 1:6 ratio of trainer to student for workshop sessions. Our current plumbing course, electrical training course and renewable energy training staff are listed below:

 

Kevin Hook, 52, Training Director. Kevin is originally from Sunderland but have lived in Hull for the last 15 years. He started his plumbing career as a time served apprentice and has a vast experience of both the plumbing and gas industries. Kevin is a qualified assessor with CITB, Bpec and City and Guilds.

Kevin Featherstone, 39, Commercial Director. Kevin has spent over 15 years in secondary education. He is a qualified teacher, NVQ assessor and Bpec trainer / assessor. His role is to ensure the smooth running of all PPL training centres and certification. He is a keen motorbike fan owning a Triumph.

John Metcalfe, 55, Renewable Energy Training Manager. John has spent all of his previous working life at British Gas. Firstly as a gas fitter then moving on into the training side. He has trained countless students in gas and plumbing. He is a fully qualified teacher and NVQ assessor with internal verifier qualifications. He is is also a qualified tutor/assessor with Bpec. In his spare time he enjoys rambling and driving his yellow motorbike slowly

Paul Coggon, 58, Plumbing Senior Trainer and CORGI Registered Heating Engineer Paul has over 35 years plumbing and heating experience. He is CORGI registered and ran a successful plumbing and heating business. He has numerous plumbing qualifications including BPEC Unvented and gas certificates. He is is also a qualified tutor/assessor with Bpec.

John Peacock, 44, Plumbing Senior Trainer. John is from Grimsby (no fish jokes please!) Has over 15 years plumbing experience. Firstly as a local plumber then more recently as a property developer in the Grimsby area. John specialises on semi-derelict properties to gut and re-plumb. He has a wealth of advice for would be buy-to-let trainees. In his spare time John enjoys disco dancing and 40s big bands! He is is also a qualified tutor/assessor with Bpec.

Mike Padgett, 52, Plumbing Senior Trainer. Mike is originally from South Yorkshire. After starring in the 1970's film "Kes" he joined British Gas as a plumbing and heating engineer. He moved to the training side and has taught plumbing and gas fitting at all levels. He holds NVQ assessor and Internal verifier awards. Mike is a keen motorbike enthusiast.

Paul Cook, 57, Plumbing Senior Trainer. Paul has over 35 years plumbing experience. Firstly, working for British Coal then as a college tutor. He is CORGI registered and has a wealth of gas and heating knowledge. He is also a qualified NVQ assessor and internal verifier.
