This three day City & Guilds' qualification has been designed as an entry-level course for those wanting to cover the Institution of Engineering and Technology In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment 5th edition and gain the foundational electrical experience required to implement it.
If you already have electrical experience, an identical two day course course without the electrical foundation has also been developed.
Throughout this course you will cover the electrical essentials like safe isolation and a safe system of work whilst learning how to inspect and test all electrical equipment, both portable and installed - moving away from the traditional portable connotation.
Additionally, you will focus on how to develop, implement and document an electrical equipment risk assessment as well as how to carry out the physical inspection and testing of electrical equipment.Upon successful completion of this course you gain essential electrical experience and knowledge as well as a City & Guilds certificate - an industry-recognised qualification.
This course is suitable for anyone with an electrical background who wants to or currently has the responsibility of in-services inspection and testing of electrical equipment. It is important to remember that if you are the duty holder of inspection and testing, it is essential that you are up to date with the latest approved codes of practice to ensure the safety of your site.
In recognition of the varying skillset of the proposed tester, PPL Training have developed an alternative course;
3 Day Course (This Course)- This course is designed specifically for those with little or no electrical experience. The course content is identical to the 2-day testing course, but with the extra day to provide greater detail in electrical principles, safe isolation and safe systems of work.
2 Day Course - This course is intended for those with an established electrical background and a good understanding of testing. The course covers both management and the practical aspects of testing and is ideal for those looking to offer electrical equipment testing/portable appliance testing as a service
