Customer Questions

Q: What is the difference between F-Gas Category 1, 2, 3 & 4?
A:
  • F-Gas Category 1 covers the installation, service, maintenance, recovery and leakage checking of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment with a charge more than 3kg or 6kg (if hermetically sealed).
  • F-Gas Category 2 covers equipment with a charge of less than 3kg (6kg if hermetically sealed).
  • F-Gas Category 3 covers refrigerant recovery from stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment.
  • F-Gas Category 4 covers leak checking of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment.
Q: Does this course supersede the City & Guilds 2078-01?
A: Yes in order to upgrade from the City & Guilds 2078-01 course you would need to sit the full 4 day F-Gas 2079 Category 1 course.
Q: Does the F-gas qualification expire?
A: Because our courses are City & Guilds 2079 they do not expire and therefore do not require a refresher course
Q: What does F-Gas stand for?
A: F-Gas stands for Fluorinated Gases.
Q: What types of F-Gases are there?
A: There are four types of F-Gases (Fluorinated Gases) including hydrofluorocarbons(HFCs) perfluorocarbons (PFCs), sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3).
Q: Could I start my own business with this City & Guilds 2079 F-Gas Category 1 qualification?
A: Yes in order to purchase the refrigerant you will need to contact an organisation such as REFCOM - to join them, they will then request to see your "Category 1" qualification.
Q: What qualifications do I require to attend this training course?
A: There are no formal entry requirements for the City & Guilds 2079-11 F-Gas Category 1 training course.
Q: Does this F-Gas 2079 qualification cover flammable gases?
A: This F-Gas course covers Fluorinated gases. Flammable gases are covered by the 6187-21 Hydrocarbon course.
