18TH EDITION WIRING REGULATIONS SUCCESS

OVER 90% PASS RATE ACROSS SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER

Notice

Due to the age of this post some of the information maybe out of date.

Over 90% Pass Rate on our Initial 15 Courses.

We have been delivering the City & Guilds 2382-18 18th Edition Wiring Regulations training course since the 4th September of this year, and over the past two months we have produced a superb pass-rate of over 90% across our first fifteen courses.

Electrical Installations Training Manager Kevin Burbidge has been delighted with the success of the new course: ‘We have been thrilled with the delivery and execution of the updated course, as a lot of hard work has gone into organising the transition from the 17th Edition. There is an understandably high demand for training for the new regulations, and we feel that our training staff have responded well with enthusiasm and a keen interest. I would like to place on record my thanks to our senior training consultants Bob Skilton and Clive Pexton for their contribution, as well as our associates Aaron People, Tim Robinson and Tony Coates. This amazing pass rate also comes from the keen dedication and hard work of our attending delegates.

Major Changes to the Regulations

    • Protection against electrical shocks - Requirement for the provision of a Residual Current Device to automatically disconnect the supply to the installation.
    • Important recommendation for the use of Arc Fault Detection Devices.
    • Reworking of Clause 443 - Requirements for installations to be protected against electrical surges.

The 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, introduced in July 2018, includes several major changes that will affect electrical installations in the new year. From 1st January 2019, all electrical installation work must comply with BS 7671: 2018, and we are already working hard to ensure that those within the industry adhere to the new regulations, by encouraging participation in our three day City & Guilds 2382-18 18th Edition Wiring Regulations training course. The major changes to the regulations include the reworking of Clause 443, which concerns the requirements for installations to be protected against electrical surges. Protection against electrical shocks is also referenced, with a requirement for the provision of a Residual Current Device to automatically disconnect the supply to the installation. There is also an important recommendation for the use of Arc Fault Detection Devices, which use arc fault currents to reduce the risk of fire resulting from an electrical issue.

Meeting 18th Edition Demand

We want to continue to deliver electrical installation courses to a high standard, so to support this we have brought in additional personnel to further improve our services. Ron Hayden comes to us with an excellent career history within the electrical industry as an engineer, Authorised Person and a consultant, while we also welcome Terry Callahan, an electrical training consultant in low voltage installations with over forty years industry experience. As well as new training staff we also have a new course programme available for 2019, which includes a heavy emphasis on dates for the 18th Edition. Training is available in York, Slough and Glasgow. Further to this we can come to your site and deliver our course as an onsite event. 18th Edition course books will be provided by us for your training, and they are also available for purchase for £80+VAT.
