Course Overview
This City & Guilds Assured course incorporates the latest legislation, guidance and manufacturers standards, along with hands on practical experience to enhance the technical understanding of nominated fire safety personnel within the healthcare/estates environment. The course focuses on specific hardware associated with passive fire safety including fire dampers and fire doors. Active fire safety measures such as fire alarms and emergency lighting will also be covered within this course. Upon completion, you will be issued with a City & Guilds Assured certificate of achievement.
Who is This Course For?
This course has been designed for healthcare/estates fire safety personnel, where the delegate will gain sufficient knowledge to understand the practical elements that may be detailed within a trust fire risk assessment, and experience examples of good and bad within the respective subject matter.

  • Introduction to the associated legislation, industry guidance & specifications in relation to fire safety
  • A general understanding of the requirements for; fire dampers and their testing requirements, fire doors and basic fault identification, fire stopping and compartmentation, along with basic survey, fire alarm systems and their testing requirements, and emergency lighting, including its role in horizontal evacuation
  • Practical examples of the different types of equipment/systems used in passive fire safety, along with undertaking functional tests/surveys to increase overall understanding
  • The maintenance requirements of NHS HTM 05-02: Guidance in support of functional provisions for healthcare premises
  • The importance of a robust management system and record keeping
