PPL Training recently expanded our Fire Safety offering, with 6 additional courses:
Fire safety training is essential when it comes to protecting your staff from the effects of fire and smoke, as well as avoiding damage to your premises from similar dangers. We provide City & Guilds accredited Fire Safety courses which are designed to meet a wide range of requirements including HTM guidance, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, BS9999 and other Fire Safety maintenance requirements.
Firecode HTM 05-02 defines a competent person as “having sufficient technical training and actual experience, or technical knowledge and other qualities, both to understand fully the dangers involved, and to undertake properly the statutory and Firecode provisions”.
Within PPL Training, all of our trainers have been sourced from the right backgrounds to ensure that their competency benefits a delegate’s training experience, with the ability to put a respective requirement into the right context.
This is evident in the appointment of our Senior Fire Safety Training Consultant, Richard Wood.

Richard is an experienced fire safety professional. He has worked within the Fire and Rescue Service in the field of technical fire safety for over 10 years, with experience in managing both passive and active safety measures. Richard has worked extensively, assisting companies in the commercial and healthcare sectors to achieve compliance. including but not limited to conducting surveys and inspections at sports grounds and healthcare premises.
PPL Training are delighted to have Richard on board, to help deliver our newly expanded Fire Safety training offering, housed inside our new building, part of our York Campus.
Brand new practical facilities showcase industry standard installations of fire and smoke dampers, fire stopping measures, fire doors, escape lighting and more. It is paramount that we continue to provide the most up-to-date practical demonstrations, ensuring that delegates can immerse themselves in our real-world installations, improving the delegate experience, and ultimately, increasing competency.

Installation of mechanical curtain and butterfly dampers, along with motorised dampers was undertaken by Air Projects, ensuring that our delegates receive the opportunity to get hands on with this passive fire safety method.
“The course was a brilliant experience and would highly recommend to anyone who is joining the fire damper business.”

PPL Training’s new fire safety courses offer guidance on proper survey and inspection techniques, as well as an introduction to the role of the responsible person. We are confident that these courses will add valuable, and ultimately life saving knowledge to your team. A view shared by some of our industry partners.
"Excellent and much needed programme. Fire doors, fire stopping and fire dampers are a crucial and complex discipline in which there is no grey area between right and wrong. The fire safety industry is historically plagued with a lack of understanding and we welcome this course to develop understanding within both the applicator and end user market."
