PPL Training add High Voltage training courses to Open Course Program

Notice

Due to the age of this post some of the information maybe out of date.
PPL Training are pleased to announce that the company have now added high voltage training courses to their open course programme. Following extensive industry research, three new training courses have been designed that specifically meet the needs of High Voltage Authorised Persons within the Facilities Services, Healthcare Estates and the Defence Estates markets. The new HV training courses have been designed in a modular format that can be taken in weekly blocks to suit the individual training programme of the AP designate. As an introduction, high voltage engineering staff are advised to complete the High Voltage – Operation and Safety Course. This course is suitable for Authorised Persons across all sectors and covers an introduction to high voltage distribution systems, high voltage switchgear, substation equipment and the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations. For Authorised Persons within the Healthcare Sector, the second stage is to attend the High Voltage – Healthcare Authorisation (5 days) course which will cover the requirements for safe operation of high voltage systems under Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 06-03. For Authorised Persons operating on the Ministry of Defence (MOD) estate, the second stage is to complete the High Voltage – Senior/Advanced Authorised Person (5 days) course which will cover the main requirements of the MOD’s JSP 375 Volume 3. This course will also be suitable for commercial/FM companies who have extensive high voltage distribution networks and those requiring a more in depth understanding of high voltage safety. Existing Authorised Persons requiring full refresher training can attend either of the second stage courses. APs needing only the opportunity to practice their operation of HV switchgear can make specific arrangements to attend the PPL HV Centre of Excellence on an individual basis. Steve Martin, Electrical Business Manager for PPL Training feels that the new range of course and flexible programme will provide a fresh approach to HV AP training and stated: We are combining traditional standards with modern teaching techniques and they will be taught by staff with current experience of operating high voltage systems. The new courses will be available at PPL’s York HV Centre of Excellence from March 2013. High Voltage Training Courses For more information please contact our Account Managers on 0333 121 1215.
